Yes. Storm clouds are generally flatter in general. They take a longer, flatter shape than a regular cloud that can look more puffed up. Here is a guide to spotting storm clouds.
Clouds that are most commonly associated with storms are called cumulonimbus clouds. they tend to sit at a much lower height, or closer to the ground, giving them an exceptional amount of room to grow vertically. This direction of growth actually gives them the appearance of mushrooming as opposed to flat on the top.
