Starbucks pledges to have eco friendly cups by 2015; however, most other coffee shops have been using compostable cups since the early or mid 2000s. Here is a spot on Starbucks’s site explaining themselves.
Below is another interesting link on the coffee cup lids. One thing I noticed is that the lids are made in China where the Bioplastic is more expensive. According to the article, the Bioplastic is more expensive in China than in the US. I have an idea, what about making the lids in the US? Wouldn’t that create jobs, and reduce shipping?
