Are snapping turtles aggressive?

They are very aggressive! They catch their food by snapping and biting, and will treat humans the same way. They’ll reach to the side and back of their shells to try to bite, and even if you pick them up by the back of the shell they will often shove their sharp back fins into your hand. They are very difficult to handle.
