Are smokeless cigarettes better for the environment?

In some ways they are, and in some ways they aren’t. Firstly, smokeless cigarettes/e-cigarettes release no actual smoke, and therefore no harmful chemicals, into the air when they are being used. They also cut down on all the resources used to farm tobacco and other components of regular cigarettes.

However, e-cigarettes are not perfect. They are made of plastic, which is generally bad for the environment (derived from petroleum, and doesn’t really degrade). They are also electronic and require a charger, and thus continually uses electricity.
