Are slugs and snails related?

Yes, slugs and snails are both mollusks from the family Gastropoda.  A slug is any gastropod mollusc that doesn’t have a shell, while a snail is one that has a coiled shell.  Slugs evolved from snails.  They both belong to the informal group “pulmonata”, a subclass of gastropods, which means they have a pallial lung rather than gills and can breathe air.  It also is one more category that slugs and snails share, showing how closely related they are.
