Shipping containers can indeed be used as classrooms (and many other traditional building uses) with some minor modifications. Adding windows, a ventilation system and other normal class room amenities is usually simple, as most shipping containers are composed of sheeted metal which can easily but cut and modified, then set up with wiring and plumbing. Container conversion can be an effective and cost efficient method for providing new buildings for schools as well as being good for the environment.
