Are shallow water habitats such as coral reefs in danger?

Coral reefs are definitely an endangered habitat. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 10% of coral reefs are damaged beyond recovery and 2/3 of the coral reef systems are being damaged (over half of that coming from human activities). Coral reefs are in danger due to a variety of factors: coastal development, destructive fishing methods, pollution, activities that muddy the water, coral mining and fish/shell collecting, careless human behavior, global warming/climate change/increased storm activity, and tourism.
