Some species of sea urchins are poisonous. They have sharp spines, which are capable of causing injury. They are most harmful to other fish but can be hazardous to fishermen as well. Only a few of those poisonous species are capable of being venomous to humans. Some other sea urchins may also be poisonous to ingest. Not all are dangerous but certainly enough where one should be wary.
