Are schools trying to make their graduation ceremonies more green?

Yes.  Oberlin College had their first green graduation ceremony in 2007.  They printed all the diplomas on 100% recycled paper, reduced other waste, used bioware for the food and bought 25-30% of the food served after the ceremony from local farmers.  Carbon offsets were also available for purchase should the graduates’ parents have traveled by plane or car.  In addition to this, 1/3 of the graduating class signed a green pledge that stated that they would be conscious of the environment when they made their future decisions.
