According to an article written in 2009, the first time the annual sale of hybrid cars dropped was in 2008. It dropped 10% from 2007 levels. The reason why hybrid cars have sold so well in the past is because of new products. Each year something new comes out, or a car is improved. In 2008, there was very little advancement in hybrid cars.
Hybrid car sales increased by four percent compared to a year ago. A 2010 tally for hybrids showed a seven percent decrease in sales. Fortunately, Prius sales have increased by six percent compared to a year ago. 2011 will hopefully be much more promising; with new electric cars and plug-in cars being released, hybrid car sales should begin to gradually increase.
