Roses are not as nearly as hardy as potatoes. Potatoes can out-survive roses in the winter by a long shot, because they can be grown in below freezing environments, (i.e.:Russia and other parts of eastern Europe) and the tuber can last months on end after being plucked from its soil.
Roses can last about six days or so, unless they are closely maintained.
