Are the Rocky Mountains still growing?

    Not measurably. The last mountain building event was between 40 and 70 million years ago, this was period was known as the Laramide orogeny.

    In relative terms, many of the ranges of the Rockies are certainly growing higher compared to the adjacent plains; this is occurring along normal faults as the region is extended.
