Are rising temperatures increasing the alcohol content of champagne?

Yes, and in all wines as a matter of fact. Champagne needs cold weather to develop its delicate texture. High alcohol content is bad news because that means the grapes are ripening faster. Other results of climate change include the expansion of wine regions. There is even a vineyard in Norway. What will eventually happen, I assume, is that the champagne region of France will have to be relocated, meaning that eventually there will be no such thing as real champagne. What a shame.
