No. Rich nations are responsible for way more than their share of carbon emissions. To stop global warming we need to severely cut carbon emissions. The EU has taken some steps to do this, but has not yet legislated the enormous cuts we will need to secure our future. Other rich nations, the U.S. included, are doing even less. There is hope that an international agreement will come out of the Copenhagen meeting later this year. At the moment, however, it’s clear that every country needs to step up to mitigate climate change.
