Are real Christmas trees better for the environment than one you can use over and over again each year?

It is much more sustainable to buy a real Christmas tree over a fake one.  To make it even better, buy as locally grown as possible.  Not only are the fake ones made out of plastic, but most of them are produced in foreign countries like Korea and China, so there are the added environmental costs of overseas transportation.  If you could get your hands on a Christmas tree that you could replant after the holidays, that would be the best option.
