Are rainforests jungles?

A rain forest typically is found to have a high canopy and lack undergrowth, while a jungle has a high amount of undergrowth and lower canopy. Ironically, the word “jungle” comes from the word “desert” and “wasteland” in Hindu and Sanskrit.
