Are primates effected by malaria?

    Yes.  Malaria is a very volatile condition and effects primates as well as humans.  It is transmitted to them in the same way as well.  Malaria is transmitted by the human or primate by the mosquito piercing the skin.  The toxins then enter the bloodstream.

    Please note: malaria is not a “toxin”, it is a parasite–of which there are many malarial species–affecting many living organisms. Plasmodium reichenowi is the species that occurs in chimpanzees and gorillas. For more on primate malarias visit link below:
