Are prefab homes safe in disasters?

Prefabricated homes can certainly withstand rough weather, such as high winds and strong storms. However, when it comes to natural disasters, such as a tornado, earthquake, or hurricane, any home can fall victim to damage. In areas where strong winds and storms are more likely, standards for prefabricated homes are set higher to ensure safety. Prefab homes may sometimes be even stronger than typical site-built homes. Because they need to be transferred to sites, they’re structures are often built to withstand heavy damage. Essentially, prefab homes are built to safety standards, but any home – regardless of the type – is susceptible to natural disasters.
