It is not actually the chip itself which is better or worse for the environment, since both are produced by petroleum powered machines which use combustion to power them, and are then sealed in plastic bags (produced by petroleum). Also since both chips are shipped by truck or boat, they both leave an equally large carbon foot print. Since both chips come from either corn or potatos which are then fried in oil, they are about the same. The winner would be a chip purchased from a local producer who does not bag them in plastic.
