Are poachers responsible for tigers going extinct?

Of the lost tiger species, poaching did play a serious role in their extinction.  However, most biologists agree that habitat loss is the major cause of the decline in tiger numbers.  Since the beginning of the last century, their natural range has shrunk by nearly 93%.  Tigers prefer thicker vegetation than lions, so they necessarily live in a less diverse range of habitats.
