Are coal plants that put their emissions underground open yet?

As of right now no, there are not any, and carbon sequestration itself is just a theory. Below is a story of MIT designing one, but they have not went ahead and built it. Please remember that this carbon being “stored” below the ground has a potential to be released in the future. It is a temporary “fix” to a long term problem. We cannot build something that is permanent and eventually the carbon will be released back into the cycle.
