Mac’s are better. Mac will recycle your old computer for you. Their website states that they think about their products over their entire life cycle, from manufacture, to shipping, to recycling. In 2007 they introduced the first mercury free LED display. They are months away from making all their computers PVC and BFR free. In 2007 they recycled almost 21 million pounds of computer waste. Their 20 inch imac consumes as much electricity as a single household lightbulb, which is 2 years ahead of competitors. Their notebooks are the world’s greenest.

“The new MacBook Pro embodies Apple’s continuing environmental progress. It is designed with the following features to reduce environmental impact:

    • Arsenic-free display glass
    • BFR-free
    • Mercury-free LED-backlit display
    • PVC-free internal cables
    • Highly recyclable aluminum and glass enclosure
    • Reduced packaging volume
    • Meets ENERGY STAR Version 5.0 requirements
    • Rated EPEAT Gold”
