No, not yet. Right now, the highest solar conversion rate is just above 40 percent, though that’s only in labs. In terms of actual cells, Sharp has the highest record so far with a 35.8 percent conversion efficiency. Thin film solar cells are much less efficient, with a typical conversion rate of less than 18 percent.
