Palm trees strength lies within their flexibility. Palm trees are able to bend and move with the strong winds that come along with storms in the tropical and sub-tropical climates in which they are found. While structurally, a palm tree is not as strong as say an oak or a redwood might be, palm trees have the ability to bend and move when more rigid trees might snap.
Palm trees are fairly sturdy as palm trees can grow very tall and must remain erect in order to get sunlight in certain climates. Palm trees, depending on the specific type, can either have very tall, slender stems or short, thick stems – both of which are quite strong. The fibrous material from palm trees is also incredibly strong. The strongest type of wood, however, is teak which comes from teak trees.
