Are other countries waste management programs similar to ours?

Some countries, like Australia and Canada, have very similar waste management programs. In some places in Europe trash is collected through underground vacuum conduits. In countries with open land, landfills are used for waste disposal. However, in countries with little extra land, like Japan, waste is incinerated. Some developing countries cannot afford waste managment programs and waste is typically just dumped into rivers.
