Are oil rich countries trying to keep renewable energy reform from happening?

Oil rich countries may not be. As we saw during the oil bubble a while back, OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, did not increase production to meet demand (probably because they knew it was a bubble and wanted to get as much money from it as possible) which drove prices through the roof and gave the first impetus for the more toward renewables. Conversely, oil companies certainly have been trying to hinder renewable development such as the purchasing of patent for electric car batteries and selfing them for more information on this check out the documentary “who killed the electric car.”
