Are oil derricks harmful for the environment?

What is their negative impact?

The oil derrick itself is not harmful to the environment. The derrick is used for lifting and positioning the drilling pipe and string.

The act of drilling itself could be considered dangerous for the environment. Spills related to drilling and contamination related to fracking wells are all bad for the environment, but the drill structure itself does no harm to the environment.
