Are octopus being over fished like other species?

Most octopuses are not considered vulnerable to overfishing because they grow fast and reproduce at a young age. Even though overfishing seems unlikely, there is some concern for the octopus populations in the Gulf of California. There are several species that are captured in particular the two spotted octopus. The only reason why there truly is a concern is that the octopus population is unknown and management of the fishery is minimal.
