Are the oceans more important than forests to the health of the earth?

Neither the ocean nor forests is more important to the earth. Earth itself is one large ecosystem and each component is as important as another. Both the forests and the ocean sequester massive amounts of CO2 and produce huge quantities of oxygen. The forests could not exist without the ocean however. All plant life requires water. The rain water that hydrates the forests primarily comes from evaporated water over the ocean. Life as we know it would not exist without either.
