Are ocean temperatures getting colder because of the melted ice?

The water surrounding floating ice masses is very cold already, so the melting ice does not make the oceans significantly colder.  In fact, the world’s oceans are warming overall with the rest of the planet, as a result of human activities.  Warmer ocean temperatures will have many negative impacts on a wide variety of marine life, sometimes in ways that scientists still do not completely understand.  Global warming and rising ocean temperatures is considered to be one of the most serious threats to ocean ecosystems today.
