Are plants in the ocean buoyant?

It really depends on the type of plant and the salinity of the water. For example, plankton tends to sink toward the bottom, while many plants in the Dead Sea will float because the high levels of salt prevent them from sinking. Plants that do not float have developed ways to adapt and survive despite the lack of sunlight and abundant food sources.
