Nissan and Renault are Japanese and French automobile companies which together in 1999 decided on an alliance to band together to produce better cars. Nissan works on gasoline engines while Renault works on diesel engines, Nissan has helped Renault get into the South Korean market, and the two have forged bonds with Bajaj, an Indian manufacturer, for a low-cost car, and with Russian automaker AvtoVAZ to create cars for the Russian market. Together, Nissan and Renault account for 9% of the world market
