Mushrooms do have some healing properties, but those lay mainly in boosting immune system health, and in helping with resistance to cancer. They are being tested as an adjunct to chemotherapy in Japan.

Mushrooms are able to fight virulent diseases.  They may even be able to fight off smallpox and tuberculosis, think of how effective that could be in third world countries!  The reason is that mushrooms and humans have pretty similar DNA and are susceptible to many of the same infections.
