Are most woodpeckers endangered?

    Under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), there are currently four species of woodpecker that are listed as endangered’; the Imperial, Ivory-Billed, Tristram’s, and Red-Cockaded. According to the Defenders of Wildlife (2011) website, there are five other species that may be headed towards being endangered and two other species whose condition is currently being reviewed.
