This question is a tricky one. It really depends on the weather. Different weather in a year will have different outcomes. One thing that is know though, is that the amount of mudslide and avalanche disasters are on the rise. In fact, just last month, the LA area experienced many mudslides due to intense rainfall.
It varies, at least in the U.S.. Landslides kill 20-50 Americans per year, while about 25 are killed by avalanches.
