Are more trees cut down in Africa than South Africa?

South Africa is only a fraction of the total size of the African continent, so in terms of surface area there is much less damage to be done. For every 28 trees cut down in Africa, only one tree is replanted. Approx. 6.8 million square kilometers of Africa were originally forested.
