Are more Chevy Volts on the road than Nissan Leaf’s?

As of fall of last year, 4,806 Leafs were sold in the U.S. and 2,870 Volts. However, these are “units” sold, not cars actually being driven off a lot (essentially you can reserve one). The problem is that the production of Leafs and Volts is just beginning so the number that are actually on the road right now is very small. We will be able to better gauge which one is the more popular car later this year. Nissan plans to build 50,000 Leafs this year and Chevy plans to build the same number of Volts.
