Are the Maldives still in trouble of sinking?

Yes, the threat of rising sea levels towards the Maldives have not gone anywhere in recent years. 80% of the nation’s island land is a meter or less above sea level, and scientists fear that due to climate change, rising sea levels may soon flood the low lying Maldives, in addition to a number of other island nations like Tuvalu. Because of this, the Maldivian government is at the forefront of fighting climate change, and potential solutions include walling the islands, purchasing land from other countries and moving an entire population, or to create and live on complex floating landscapes. One such example of a “floating landscape” is the $500 million golf course being constructed in the Maldives right now.
