Are low impact design (LID) elements part of LEED certification?

LEED standards are designed to minimize impact on the environment, in terms of site selection and energy use as well as design. That said, there’s only one mention of it (low impact development) in the official standards, version 2.2, and it’s just a recommendation for how to obtain the maximum points with regard to stormwater control.
