Only the spiny lobster off the coast of Florida is at risk of being endangered. It like seafood in general, although crab is a good, close analogy, it is expensive because of the hardship in catching it. Unlike foul and beef that can easily be grown on land these animals are not nearly as easily raised. Also they frequently do not live in the most pleasant of places so that they can be caught and it can take some serious equipment to catch them.
