Lionfish are one of the most venomous fish in the ocean. They carry poisonous vemon in their spines, but only attack out of defense. Divers are warned to be careful, as they are not aggressive fish, but will attack if they feel threatened. While poisonous, lionfish are not generally fatal to humans, but should still seek medical attention if involved in an encounter. Many will experience extreme pain, headaches and difficulty breathing.
