Laptops use less energy per hour than desktops. A desktop will use 60 to 250 watts per hour, whereas a laptop will use only 15 to 45 watts per hour. A desktop’s energy consumption goes up even more when you consider the fact that you have to run a monitor as well, which can use up to about 80 watts per hour. Other factors that contribute to the efficiency of your computer are the age of the processor, internet use, standby use, computing use, and some others. Mac’s are also more energy efficient than PC’s.
