The largest living marsupial in the world is the Red Kangaroo.  They live throughout the deserts of Australia.  However, the largest ever marsupial was a wombat like creature that grew to 6 feet tall and weighed 2.5 tons compared to average of 4.6 feet and 185 pounds for a male red kangaroo.
