Water and humidity are not a problem for hybrid or electric cars, as there are many protective measures built into the cars to prevent any danger involving the battery. In extreme conditions of cold or heat, however, the battery life of electric cars is known to deteriorate and reduce driving range by up to 30 percent. In a hybrid car, this would mean more fuel consumption, since the battery may run out of energy sooner when it is very hot or cold.
The US Rankings and Reviews gave the Prius a 10 on safety, which means even in the rain.
