A recent NY Times article in 2009 reported that hybrid bus systems were gaining popularity in cities. The article makes the distinction that these are hybrid-electric buses that run on diesel and electricity, and New York City is leading the pack with the most number of buses in use. Various other cities are also adopting these buses including Taipei, Ann Arbor, MI and more. These buses are far superior to regular buses in fuel economy and emit significantly less pollution as well.
