According to the greenercars.org “Meanest Vehicles for the Environment in 2009,” the Hummer H2 is the worst car on the road with its 11 mpg in the city and 18 mpg highway.
The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, however, rated the Volkswagen Touareg Tdi as the “worst offender” based on fuel economy and emissions.
Vehicles as heavy as the Hummer H2 aren’t required to have their mpg ratings released by the manufacturer, so there are no official numbers on it. Tests by various independent sources but its mpg between 8 and 12. There are other vehicles also in this weight class exempt from mpg reporting that are going to be about the same efficiency. Fueleconomy.gov releases the ratings of the best and worst passenger vehicles and SUVs, pickups, and vans that are small enough to actually be rated.
