Are honeydew melons and cantaloupe melons closely related?

The cantaloupe and the honey dew may seem to have little in common. Yet they’re both muskmelons. However the juicy honey dew is more closely related to the Casaba, Crenshaw, and the Persian melons. These are all members of the Winter melon group.

Yes, the honeydew and the cantaloupe are closely related. However, the major difference is that the honeydew melons ripen later than the cantaloupes. These two melons do not grow from the same vine, which allows the honeydew to ripen after the cantaloupe.
