Are halibut and flounder the same species but one evolved into the other?

Halibut and Flounder are two distinct species. They look similar and have similar habits but they are actually two separate species in the same family. Both are technically considered flounders, and both belong to either the family Pleuronectidae, which means they have eyes on their right side, or Bothidae which is left eyed flounders. Halibut are substantially larger fish than flounders, which typically only grow up to 22 inches.
