I think it is safe to say that almost everything these days is being green-washed, including weddings. A google search for “green weddings” yielded over 18 million hits! Everything from reclaimed gold rings to paperless invitations to organic flowers to environmentally conscious gowns can be found on a quick online search. Soon brides will be looking for something old, something new, something borrowed, and something green.
Green weddings have become very popular in Canada. In 2008, many couples decided to go with conflict-free diamonds and wedding dresses made from 100 percent biodegradable fabrics. This year, more couples are going beyond just that; couples are choosing even more “eco-friendly” items, such as menus and décor.
Posh Productions Event Planning & Design in Calgary, Alberta has been helping clients plan green weddings. Some of the top trends include: selecting local, organic food and flowers, using recycled material for invitations and wedding programs, and choosing vendors that recycle. I’ve included an article under citations that explains more about green wedding trends.
Green weddings are also becoming more popular in the U.S.
