In Northern Europe, the glaciers had melted by about 8 percent from 1952 to 1993. Some of the glaciers in Northern Europe have retreated up to 35 meters a year.

In Alaska, 99 percent of the glaciers are retreating, though not at the same speed as Europe’s glaciers. Its believed that many of Alaska’s glaciers are losing several cubic kilometers of ice a year.
